Canarsie Merchants Association Announces The Launch Of Its First Map
Brooklyn, NY 11236
Today, we are thrilled to launch our CMA Map of Canarsie! This special map celebrates the diverse places and cultures that contribute to the character of Canarsie. It will also serve as a historical piece allowing us to look back at the summer of 2024 and see the restaurants that were present and the changes that occurred. It also introduces several corridors and the number of restaurants on those corridors, Restaurant Crawls and more to come as we approach the annual celebration of National Small Business Saturday in November Over the years, we have seen changes in our community, but these changes are not always documented for us to keep a record. This map marks the beginning as we continue our district marketing initiatives. It represents our commitment to supporting and showcasing local businesses in Canarsie, with many more maps and projects to follow.
Our first map showcases the local restaurants, must see places in Canarsie, churches, recreations, and art murals. We are encouraging locals and tourists to explore all that Canarsie has to offer. Did you know that there are a total of 93 eateries located in Canarsie? With so many dining options available, you can enjoy a new culinary experience whenever you like.
People often overlook Canarsie because they assume you cannot have a fun day here. However, this map tells a different story. You can start your day with a visit to the waterfront, then head to the park to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Next, stop by Avenue M for a quick smoothie and end your day by enjoying a delicious meal at one of the local restaurants. Design your day as you wish and enjoy it locally. You can also take an Island Food Tour while in Canarsie by exploring culture through cuisine. We intentionally launched our map in August to align with Back-to-School Month, as we are hosting a Scavenger Hunt, and the map will be used as a guide for participants. We invite everyone to shop, explore, dine, and support Canarsie as we work together to drive change with the creation of our first map.
We would like to express our gratitude to Small Business Services for providing the funding that allowed us to create the map, as well as to the Brooklyn Chamber for their support in the process. Additionally, we want to extend our thanks to Mystic Media Live for their outstanding work in designing the map. Our community partner, Harold Jones from Canarsie Community Development Inc., referred us to the local small business, Springer Printing, which provided the copies for distribution. We also want to thank the BRC interns from Medgar Evers College for the research they conducted to develop the map.
